Ethics Approval for CBD Topical Osteoarthritis Study
Today Avecho announced that it had received ethics approval for a proof-of-concept Phase IIa study examining the use of topical CBD for the management of osteoarthritis pain in the hand.
The study is being run in collaboration with the Lambert Initiative for Cannabinoid Therapeutics, a leading academic research institute at the University of Sydney, focused on the discovery, development and optimisation of safe and efficacious CBD therapeutics.
This study has been initiated in response to growing demand from patients who are unsatisfied with pain management options for osteoarthritis of the hand. It will use Avecho’s proprietary TPM® technology to deliver a topical CBD gel formulation to painful joints over a four-week period.
While Avecho remains principally focused on the development of our soft-gel product and imminent Phase I trial, we are excited to be examining alternative clinical formulations, and to be working alongside reputable experts from the Lambert Initiative.
